Annexes

Amongst many other things, Multi Space are proud builders of bespoke annexes. A fantastic and cost-effective way of creating a multigenerational home, annexes or historically known as ‘granny annexes’ allow families to remain close together and enjoy all of the functionality they require from their living spaces. Making it possible for families to do this with complete freedom, Multi Space works with clients to design, build and customise any sort of annexe that meet their exact requirements.

Providing an all but inexhaustible suite of options, our team is able to create accessible annexes that mirror or contrast the property they belong to. Whether it’s with a contemporary look and feel, or something much more traditional, our team is perfectly positioned to provide both the guidance and resources necessary to bring the space to life. Built using high quality materials, our spaces have a proven longevity and do not require regular maintenance or replacement. In addition to their quality and design, the annexes that Multi Space creates are fitted with the latest safety features and put practicality first. Our bespoke annexes allow clients to create the perfect multigenerational home.

Creating a granny annexe as unique as your family

Unlike prefabricated granny annexes, what we create at Multi Space are built around the needs of our clients. From design to build, we ensure that the space provides real value to the people using it. With plenty of experience in bringing bespoke granny annexes to life, we’ve assembled a brief guide on everything you need to know about creating the perfect multigenerational home.

How Much Does a Bespoke Granny Annexe Cost?

As a bespoke service, the cost of a granny annexe from Multi Space will vary depending on your specifications. Obviously, the larger you want it to be, the more you can expect to pay. Similarly, the more bespoke features that you intend to add, the higher the cost will increase. Your choice of materials will also have some bearing on the overall cost of a granny annex. Our team will be happy to advise you on all of these things during the design phase and will provide you with accurate estimates to ensure that you stay on top of the cost.

Will a granny annexe add value to my property?

Like all quality additions to your home, a professionally built granny annex stands to add great value to your property. Because the ones created by Multi Space are built with longevity in mind, you can be confident that when it comes time to sell your home, you have one more thing to shout about.

Do I need planning permission for a granny annexe?

Generally speaking, yes you will need to seek planning permission if you intend for someone to sleep in your bespoke granny annexe. Of course, having worked on many of these projects in the past, our team at Multi Space has the expertise necessary to help you along with this process to ensure that your space is fully compliant with government building regulations.

Do you have to pay council tax on granny annexes?

Thankfully, the government removed council tax for granny annexes back in 2014. Considered to be an unfair charge on those choosing to live in a multigenerational home, granny annexes are now able to enjoy their space without paying any additional council tax.

Should you have any other questions about granny annexes, or if you’re ready to start the process of discussing and designing your ideas, be sure to get in touch with a member of our team today. They’ll be delighted to hear from you and will be happy to help turn your plans into a reality.
